Congrats to our Girl’s Tennis team, who had their first few season matches this past month! On September 13, they had their first match, an away game held at El Camino. Despite their loss, doubles player Meadow Dart lightened the mood by mentioning that the vending machines on the Colts’ campus didn’t work. “My goal for this season is for each player to live up to their potential — live it up,” Dart said.
Another away game was held at Capuchino — who recently had their courts redone — on September 15. During this series of matches, the Lady Sharks met high-level competition when an exchange student from Asia scored several points; overall, the Mustangs won.
The first home game of the season began on September 20, with the opposing team being Westmoor. This was quite an exciting day, as the scores of the Sharks and the Rams were tied until the end of the last match when doubles players Piper Reed and Meadow Dart had to try to break the tie. Although they lost in the end, they proved their willingness to play to the bitter end, lengthening the match past 6 o’clock and going through two periods of overtime tie-breakers.
Two days later, on September 22, it was a home game, and the opposing team was Mills. Although the team lost overall, exhibition doubles Sopheakca Chhim and Keani Preble won their match.
